The last few days have been an absolute blast! here are the highlights;

  1. Went to my first ever concert (Martin Garrix!!!) and had the night of my life
  2. Got really sick for almost a week afterwards (totally worth it though, no complaints)
  3. Finally published my portfolio! Here it is! readymag.com/kshitija.work/4112087
  4. Started applying for product design jobs

Honestly applying to places, many of which i admire so so much, is so daunting. It’s a constant swing between ‘what if i don’t get a job I’m so young what will i do’ and ‘I’m so young i still have a lot of time to learn and figure it out.’ The vibes have been truly ✨immaculate✨

i have noticed that working despite the fear is the best antidote for my anxious thoughts. If i feel like I’m making some progress towards my goals, as large and abstract a concept it may be, i am at ease mentally.

So here’s the plan for the next few days. Keep applying to jobs little by little everyday, find and follow people on Twitter whose work really makes me !!!, study their process and portfolios and take notes and post my findings, get inspired and work on my own little projects — be it visual, conceptual or something that goes out of my Figma file, like a plugin or more, and share it. I want to be a better designer and there’s so much to do and learn (overwhelming, but in a good way) so here’s a start.

Today I’m going to be looking at Marco Cornacchia’s portfolio; he’s one of my favorite designers working magic @Diagram. The clean design and typography of this portfolio is one of my favorite things about it; it reminds me of read.cv’s interface — their About page is so good I want to recreate it in my portfolio, no changes. i also like how he writes all his ‘i’’s in lower case :’)

The DotOS case study chefs kiss

One of my favorite of his case studies. Right at the start we have a scroll prototype, I’m a fan. This project is a totally new way of looking at a more personal computer and OS. I love the concept of streams, 4 options making up most of your workflow; feed, paste, actions and updates.

The use-case for updates, how to find and stack the most relevant ones on top was super interesting to me and something I would like to think and work upon in one of my own projects later on. Active updates that show up only when related to your ask at hand, from people in your current thread and updates that are always set to show, and waiting room updates that are non-distracting but there for you to attend to on your own time.
